How to maintenance the wood decking tiles

Preserve the wood by applying wood care oil regularly. Caution: Ensure the plates are clean and dry before each oiling. Prior to the initial maintenance, conduct a test in an inconspicuous area. For outdoor use, it is advisable to perform maintenance every 2-3 months. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to maintain wood using wood care oil:

Materials Needed:

1.     Wood care oil suitable for your type of wood (e.g., teak oil, linseed oil, tung oil).

2.     Clean, dry cloth or applicator pad.

3.     Mild soap or wood cleaner.

4.     Soft-bristle brush.

5.     Sandpaper (if needed).

6.     Drop cloth or newspaper to protect the surrounding area.

Steps:

1. Clean the Wood:

– Ensure that the wood surface is clean from dirt, dust, and any residues. Use a mild soap or wood cleaner along with a soft-bristle brush to gently clean the surface.

– Rinse the wood thoroughly with water and allow it to dry completely before proceeding.

2. Sand (if needed):

– If the wood surface has rough spots or is weathered, use sandpaper to smooth it out. Start with a coarse grit and gradually move to finer grits until the surface is smooth.

3.Test in an Inconspicuous Area:

-Before applying wood care oil to the entire surface, perform a test in a small, inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility and desired results.

4. Apply Wood Care Oil:

– Ensure that the wood is clean and dry before applying the wood care oil.

– Using a clean, dry cloth or applicator pad, apply a generous amount of wood care oil to the wood surface.

– Spread the oil evenly, following the wood grain. Allow the oil to penetrate the wood for the recommended time specified by the product.

5. Wipe Excess Oil:

– After the recommended penetration time, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any excess oil. This helps in preventing a sticky or tacky finish.

6. Repeat as needed:

– For outdoor wood, it is advisable to perform this maintenance routine every 2-3 months, depending on the weather conditions and exposure to the elements.

7. Regular Cleaning:

– In between oil applications, regularly clean the wood by dusting or wiping it with a damp cloth to prevent the accumulation of debris.

8. Protect Surrounding Areas:

– When applying the wood care oil, use a drop cloth or newspaper to protect the surrounding areas from potential drips or spills.

9. Monitor for Wear:

– Keep an eye on the wood’s condition and reapply the wood care oil as needed. Signs for reapplication include a faded appearance or when water is no longer repelled.

By following these steps and maintaining a regular schedule of cleaning and oiling, you can ensure that your wood stays protected and retains its natural beauty for an extended period.
